Front fender fasteners

I'm just thinking of this after finally having a solution to loosing fender bolts.

I like easy access in removing my front fenders so some type of quick disconnect system has been desired. I've tried everything from bolts, wing nuts, pan head screws with elevator nuts and clevis pins.

Just recently I was checking out the local atv store and they had a couple of polaris skids on display. I believe one was a rmx 800? Anyways, it has d-handle 1/4 turn dzus fasteners. While the back plate, retaining clip and dzus piece are quite pricey ($33 for the pair), I did find some others online for a lot cheaper. The size to look for is 6mm x 16mm. You could go with 17mm with a washer on one of the sides of the plastic. Perfect fit! I'll post some pics shortly.

Those look nice on the outside.  Like you I do wish there was a faster way to take off the plastics.  I guess we really can't complain though cuz it takes nearly thirty minutes to get the plastics off the cheap chinese quad I have for one of my kids:bs: .

I always take out the 8mm (12mm head) bolt out of the frame. An impact driver or T handle goes quick. On full fenders I convert the bolt out on the end of the brace to the same size and weld the nut to the brace.

I beat you to the punch. However the bright side is, great minds think alike!




For my rear fenders I use OMF seat latch with quick release pins. I seriously get my rear and front fenders off in seconds.

For the fuel tank I also use quick disconnect fuel couplers. You can get these at your local stealer ship through rocky mountain. The connectors are male and female so one line goes male to female and the other line goes female to male. This is so the lines never get crossed. Be sure to order the couplers that stop the fuel with disconnected.

I know I have omf rear seat latch system but it's a screw on knob and a spring connect each one to keep each other from spinning loose.

Great minds do think alike! I do like the disconnect system. I think I remember you or someone posting this before. Looks like a trick idea.

Hopefully I can hit up the MX track tomorrow to test these front clips out. Today I finally pulled the MX bag out of the trailer and it was soaked from the rain cycling into the sides and back. Picked up a peet dryer and it did great on the boots and gloves. Washed and hung up the jerseys and pants as well. I'm anxious to let the bike perform! Just been raining all day today.

I'm glad to hear you made it to your destination safely. That track looks like fun. I love MX. Fast, sideways, rhythm, jump, fast some more!

I did dzus fasteners a few years ago when I built my R. I posted the tread on. Net. I bought this Yamaha ysr50 some years ago that had that fuel coupler installed. That's how I came up with it. Have fun on the track.

Fasteners held up well today. Went to the track and slowly started jumping some stuff. Kinda had the nose high on a few but I think I might have been too far back. Rear rebound was set at about half. I tightened it a couple of clicks though. I just need to work on body position.

I'll probably have my wife head out there one day to take video of me so I can see what I'm doing.

Other than that, it was fun and muddy. Almost accidentally cleared a 30'r! Just rolled it on in 3rd and before I knew it I was near the landing. Just gotta build some confidence.
