After talking to an old friend at a party one night, I agreed to buy a '85 R that I never knew he had... Never seen it until the day I picked it up...

I dumped a little pre-mix in it that I had laying around for my chain saw just to see how bad the floats were stuck... 4 slow kicks and two halfass firm kicks, and she fired up after sitting 9 YEARS!

After a good bath and de-mouse nesting, I'm waiting on an air cleaner, so I can take it out for a rip and see what needs attention.

It's been 21 years since my last R. This one is never getting sold!

Full resto to come after this ice riding season.

It has low pro fenders. What other goodies does it have?  It looks like it is good condition.

From the previous owner, who I trust. It was an old race bike from out west.

Small over bore, ported, big flat slide, PT pipe, Answer silencer and wheel spacers.

It seems to be straight, minus the rear fender bracket is tweaked a bit.

Going to run it around the yard awhile to see if it needs anything. Then crank seal and gaskets before winter.

Thanks guys.

I think I did good on the deal. From the few I've seen for sale around here, I paid about $1k less and have a box off take-off parts and two new paddle tires on rims.

I cleaned and detailed the wheeler. She looks pretty good for an old unrestored machine.

I took the Answer silencer off because it was messed up at the coupler. Installed the factory one and got the jetting close for now. Changed the oil and lubed some pivot points.

Two of many questions I have for the pros are; I'm going to need a front tire for sandy/rocky trails. What should I look for? And, I'll be needing a second front rim for my ice riding set up. Where is a good spot to look for one besides eBay?

Thanks guys!
