I think that is actually an old school James Lucky bumper. If I remember correctly it could also be ordered with shark teeth.

To me it looks bigger than the james lucky and it looks like it might not be aluminum

The original James Lucky was not aluminum. They originally made front and rear steel bumpers as well as steel nerf bars. The aluminum stuff didn't really start becoming prevalent until the mid 90's. Agreed, this could be home built but if it is, it was done by someone with a decent tubing bender and a 1" die. It looks to have been made out of a single piece of tubing.

I had a set of the early lucky nerfs. For the front mount they went to the lower aarm rear bolt. They were also sold without nets for awhile.

OK, I'll let you guys in on a small secret...... I'm a hoarder.

I still have a box with JL catalogs stored in my storage trailer, I'll see if I can dig one out this weekend.

And, I also still have a set of the JL nerfs.

I used to flat track a lot and the mounting style on these kept the other guys right rear from getting stuck in your left front in the corners. Plus these things are steel and ate the early aluminum ones for lunch when you were bumpin and bangin.
