what is the cheapest place to get a new one? is there different firmnesses?

if you have, how do you shave some so it stays smooth and flat?

Yes you can get diff firmness and thickness but you may have to have one custom made.. I took my seat to a car and boat upholstery shop and they made me a badass  one using boat seat foam and it's perfect!! Not to mention then you can pick your material, color and design of pattern you want on your seat cover. I want to say it was around $200 going on 3 years now and it still looks and feels brand new

i want to attempt to make a cover myself, as you can get top quality materials yourself for literally $10-$15 a yard. guess im going to have to learn a sewing machine, i dont think a heavyweight material is going to stretch smoothly around those sharp corners around the back edge dangit! im going for form not function btw lol.

are there some foam shaving techniques to slightly take some off while leaving it nice and smooth?

Has anyone ever used memory foam for a seat? It would have to be dense but also have quick recovery or expansion or reforming or whatever you want to call it. That would probably be pretty comfortable if someone made something like that. I guess a downfall though would be cold weather.

Or how about the memory foam with the "cooling" feeling lol. That might help with swamp ass on hot riding days

I think Quad Tech may be closed. I have seen a few posts on other forums about it. Last week I tried multiple times to call, phone would just ring, no answer, not even anyway to leave a message.

Years ago I had CEET desert foam, was very firm, but held up good.

I have also heard Jettrim does good work, but no personal experience.

As for shaving the seat Foam I've seen many guys use a electric knife to do so.. Similar to the one's used to cut Turkey...

I've purchased a couple of Ceet seat foams. The standard height FQ005 is plenty soft. The desert height FQ001 is plenty firm. I wish it was the other way around. For me the standard with the soft foam is a little low as far as seat height is concerned.
