Not sure about atv bearings but guys in the rc world with cars doin 100+ use them & have to replace them often. Also if any hard debris gets into them at speed they disintegrate.

I think a lot of 2-wheeled MX guys like to run them

They are expensive and slightly reduce parasitic (frictional) loss. The gains are usually less than 1%.   The majority of the customers I have seen use them, would have got greater power gains spending their money on the basics like better pipes, ports, more testing, etc.

I was told they do mske guite a bit of a difference if you do the motor bearing aswell as the carrier and front wheel bearing.thats why I was asking

I doubt if changing all of the engine and wheel bearings would reduce your ET .05 sec on a 4.5 second machine.

Some of the aftermarket seal kits customers send to us to put in their engines and wheel bearings add considerable frictional drag.  I would also remove the wheel bearing seals and lip seal springs on ALL OF THE SEALS IN THE ENGINE if you are going to spend the money on ceramic bearings.  Removing the lip springs will reduce the life of the seals but the life of the ceramic bearings is not going to be as long as steel bearings because they will not tolerate the small junk that constantly circulates through the crankshaft and transmission bearings.

There is always a small amount of dust and grit that makes it way past the air filter. Make notice of the transmission oil next time you drain it.  The oil always looks like metallic paint.  The metallic dust is normal.  Every time you shift gears there is a small metal fragment that chips off of the shift dogs regardless of what type of transmission oil is used or what transmission modifications like undercutting or back-cutting has been done.  Changing the transmission oil frequently with cheap oil will increase the transmission bearing and gear life more than using the expensive speciality oils changed less frequently.

Ceramic balls are "harder" than steel balls, but chip when dirt or small metal fragments circulate through them.  When dirt or small metal fragments circulate through bearings with steel balls, the balls and races will get small "dents" rather than chip.
