Got me a nice Craigslist find. But I have never seen one of the extra sets of plastics it came with. It's a full gusset 86 frame with these wild looking front plastics. Can anyone help ID these things. They bolt is place where the rad shrouds would.

Those are a set of old maier plastics. The matching rears were flat, not raised over the rear tires.

Nice, the rears are new Maier's but didn't have a clue about the fronts. But they had a matching rear you say? May have to start the search.

I have a set of those maier rears in white that have never been mounted. They look kind of like LT250 plastic. My buddy had the full set on his 88 back in the early 90's, but his were pink:nose-pick::lol: Needless to say I didn't ride his R very often even though it was alot faster than mine.

...Maier had both kinds for the rear ...raised and Flat....the flats (of course) were for flattrack which is what the fronts in the pic are for also....Maier sold them as part of their "flattrack kit"....

Yep. If the quality and finish of the plastics back in the day was on par with what they can do now they would of sold a lot more of them. I probably would of tried the rears for sure. I thought about them a little back then but with the quality, finish and thickness etc stuck with trimmed oem.

I also stuck with oem as back when Maier first came out.....(They actually started out by making replacement fenders out of fiberglass)...The finish and fit were pretty crappy until they changed their molds.....IMO Maier's  newest line of fenders are just as good of quality as fullbore....If you look at Maier's rear fenders they have even copied fullbores strengthening ribs....I have never had any problems on getting Maier fenders to fit either....But that being said I always run the race cut fronts so I do not have any experience as to how the full fendered fronts fit...

Full fender fronts fit well, just ugly imo. Race cut all day but the old school "flattrack" fronts should look good with a graphics kit at the dunes.
