Atc250r on alcohol
« on: February 25, 2015, 11:39:06 AM »
I want to convert my stock 85 atc250r to alcohol this summer, but I'm not quite sure how to go about doing it.  I've been looking at the ftz alcohol carbs but I don't know what size to get for a stock cylinder?  I'm gonna buy a paul turner high rev pipe and K&N filter for the bike too.  I basically just need some advice from people that have experience with this.  Thanks in advance.

stock engine on alcohol... why?

just get ur cylinder ported to your riding style and upgrade ur intake and exhaust tract.

i had a lt250r back around 95-96 that ran alcohol when i bought it had a lot of problems and ended up just switching it back to gas issues were immediatly gone. if your not building a dragbike/hillshooter i would stick with gas.

I'm building a drag bike/hill shooter.  I already have another 85 atc250r with a paul turner and K&N filter that is perfect for messing around, I want the next step up with this other 250r.  Maybe I'll just gather the funds to put a 350 in it then run it on alcohol, I have all summer to build it anyways.

just a few things youll need to do.
drill out the gas cap for a bigger breather hose.
new intake manifold if you plan to use a big lectron. maybe someone makes one otherwise youll have to custom make it
drill and tap the cylinder for a pulse signal
find a place to mount a fuel pump and route all the hoses
figure out a airfilter system
install a pingle fuel valve
this is just a few things i can think of

im not sure if the lectron will fit without hitting the frame ?  not sure if a pod filter will fit between the frame and shock ? might have to use the oe airbox and boot somehow. i ran into a few obstacles when i set mine to methanol
to much power is almost enough
