So. Not sure about this being the right forum, first post and all that. The question is, white powdercoat? frame is bare, welds are reinforced and smoothed, and it's ready to go in for powder. I was set on the original red (it's an '87 250R), but I keep thinking white. Does it stay nice and bright even with the chain lube and the dirt and all that? Thanks for the thoughts.

i got a white frame and after 1 season its hard to keep clean. Also i wont use this same powdercoat company ever again cause i didmt like the final result to begin with. Bext time im gona do a darker color on the frame

I LOVE the way White Frames look, I had a Laeger w/ White Frame and Red plastics that looked killer IMO. However, yes, if your looking for that Colgate smile year round good luck. I'd do it again though, or maybe a battleship gray OR sand blast and use clear PC - especially if the welding you had done "blue'd" in spots (not sure of the technical term or why it happens, anyone?).

Damn. Sound of my dreams crashing, had my heart set on white, lol. The frame is stock, and even after HOURS of cutting tabs, filling, grinding and smoothing, I don't think clear would look good. The bluing you mention is a result of the metal tempering as it's welded or worked. Different colors mean different things (grey/black = too fn hot, lol). Blue usually indicates that the steel was heated up somewhere in the range of 640 degrees. And it looks fn awesome when it's done right.

just did my frame and everything else in white, i think as long as u deep clean after every ride u should be good. also i pry much only ride sand so yea.

Thanks for the explanation on the "blue'ing".. As for going with a white frame if that's what you want I say F it, go for it! Worse case you redo it in a year or two.

If you go with white don't be an anus (like me) and use brake cleaner to get off the chain lube / grease. It dulled the clear coat and promoted staining.

A good/bad thing (depends how you look at it), about powder-coating your frame white is it sure makes it easy to see if your frame is cracked anywhere.....I ran a white frame for a few years and it was easy to maintain....Do a white powder coat with clear to help with maintenance

Well, now it got deep. My powdercoater pointed me in the direction of prismatic's website, so many colors.... Now I'm thinking Intense Blue with black accents. Damn. First world problems. Once I get shits underway I'll start posting some pics in the project section. Thanks for the input.

The frame on my ROLL is white. Hard to keep clean but since I never ride then I guess it doesn't matter. :indecisiveness::fighting0019::beaten::disgust::fighting0069::yes_master:

I think the only way to keep it nice and bright white is to not ride it ever. but why in the hell would u want to do that..lol. I did my wheels and crash cage on my street bike over the winter. and im glad I did it. I would go for it and do it. I think u can maybe clear coat it, like Ferrin suggested. just clean it a lot . dilute some awesome or purple power and rinse it off..

I use white on my silencers just have to keep clean or maintain daily!
