Im using Cometic soft copper .032 base gasket what should I torque it to on my stock cylinder? On my head Im using the stock head and a piece design and was told to use to peel it apart and use the thinner ones. What is the right torque for those. Do I put them on dry?

I'm not sure in the torque on a solid copper base gasket, but I am wondering what  is any advantage to using copper when there is very little pressure in crank case ...?

To achieve .032 where everything fell into place with the porting, long rod, piston, cylinder and head cut. this originally it was a short rod motor then a long rod with a spacer

hot crankcase is a bad thing. wouldnt a copper gasket allow alot more heat to transfer from cylinder to crankcase ?  sure seems like it would

Same torque as always which is 40 ft-lbs. Cometic does make a regular .030 base gasket.

A copper gasket is not a gasket, it is a metal spacer.  The glue that you put on both sides of the spacer is your gasket.  If you need a metal gasket to keep it from blowing out, you probably have other problems that are not being addressed like cases and or cylinders that are not flat or studs that do not have the needed tensile strength.

Question is now should I get the .032 cometic paper style I dont care about the copper one if its the wrong direction  the copper is a spacer which I'm supposed to use sealant on both sides in place of my base gasket

You re right the book says 27 to 35 ft-lbs.   I have the  .031" fiber cometic gaskets in stock if you want one.

When I ordered I just asked for .010, .020, ,030, and .040 fiber. Its like you get whatever size they have close. I am sure if you need an exact size they would just cut some from that stock. Some peeps are in a hurry so I thought I would just through that out there in case you did not want to wait. Good luck with your project.

not sure what material cometic is using. if its klingersil thats about the best stuff you can get imo. for future reference, many gasket shops carry that stuff and will usually just give you a small chunk for free. takes only about 15min to cut your own gasket. even if they make you buy it, a fairly good size piece is only about $10
