so the first of our two bi-annual gatherings has been cancelled due to a loss of insurance since some nincompoop who got hurt riding at the park decided he was going to sue our non-profit organization. mind u his accident wasnt even during a nohva event, just a random weekend. here our groups public facebook page

https://www.facebook.com/NOHVAPres?fref=nf

here are the two posts pertaining to the lawsuit, and the information pertaining to the insurance company:

https://www.facebook.com/NOHVAPres/posts/929722723760871

https://www.facebook.com/NOHVAPres/posts/934993629900447

people like this make me so mad. im sure the lawsuit will get thrown out due to the recreational liability act(mentioned in the post), but just by it being filed the insurance company dropped our organization instantly and now everyone is screwed. the riding area isnt owned by nohva they simply maintain it, and there is tons of "ride at your own risk" signs.
i kno there is probably no chance in heck, but if there is any insurance company u kno of that insures organizations such as this that hasnt been mentioned on the posts already, please voice them on the page. thanks.

Kinda wish he had died in the accident. There would not be some money grieving azzhole to mess things up for everyone else. Accidents happen 24/7 on the dunes. No one sues the sand.

Idiots like this killed the 3wheeler. You get hurt by your own hand and its someone else's fault? How is this right?

Gotta love people that can't live with results of their own actions.  When I crash I get kinda pissed at myself and worry about what I did to my R.  What I don't do is whine like a baby and look for someone to blame/sue.  This country is great because we have the freedom to do almost as we please in most situations.  What makes it crappy is the segment of our population, which this person falls into, that refuses to take the responsibility of their own actions.

it will still be open that weekend, but there will be no vendors, no events, no overflow parking, (also no parking down the minimum maintenance road) and half the regular parking lot is closed off due to fixing drainage, so it will get real hectic real fast when trying to find parking spots. sam i wouldnt make the drive unless you are going to go up a couple days early and get a camping spot. i will probably go the weekend before or the weekend after though, its only an hour drive for me so i dont camp, and i know there will be zero parking for anyone that isnt there very early and gets a camping spot that weekend.

i broke my back at an event 4 years ago, didnt blame anyone but my dumb self and a k&n letting too much sand in and jamming up the carb slide.

the sue happy society we have is bullcrap. hopefully if it gets thrown out vs nohva, they dont go after the land owners (local public power district). i have a feeling if that happens they would just close the place off and cease all riding out there anymore. :(
