im thinking of getting an enclosed trailer 7x14 to replace our current 6x10 landscape trailer. ive found a new v nose 7x14 single axle trailer local and am wondering if it will be sufficient for our needs. it has a 5200# axle and brakes on it and weights 1500#. we will be hauling our rzr 800 (weights 1139# fully loaded for a trip with spare parts and tools) and the R ive measured and they will fit if i turn the R sideways with some room to spare. I have been told that single axle enclosed trailers dont pull well by a few riding buddies and that i should get a tandem axle but the tandems ive found are upwards of $1500 -$2500 more than i can get the single axle for. anybody have any input as to whether the single axle is harder to pull than a tandem it dosent make any sense to me why but ive never owned or pulled an enclosed trailer before.

My input might not count becuase I use a dually, but I have no problems pulling my 7×14 single axle. It pulls just as nice as my tandem flat 20' car hauler.

My single axle trailer,that is loaded to the gills,pulls the same as my tandem axle boat trailer.Plus tandem axle requires 4 tires to replace,and bearings.

I love my little 6x12 trailer. My dad has a 7x14 tandem and they both pull nice.

That seems like quite a bit of weight for a single axle. Those spare parts, tools, and gear really add up quickly.

Also depends on what you're pulling it with, but the dual axle setup provides much more stability

What makes a huge difference is the axle placement on how fast they turn, I prefer a tandem they don't bounce as much especially with torsion suspension like most enclosed snowmobile trailers. They both work great just get what fits your needs and if it's a snowmobile trailer get load bars to take the twist out and roll.

I have an 8 x 16 and MAN am I glad I didn't get a 7 x 14. ... CAN'T PUT QUADS CROSS WISE IN A 7 FOOTER ... mine is tanrem axle and I tow with a 1/2 ton short box and a Tahoe,,, LOVE IT ,,, I am so glad I went with 8 foot,,,, single axle NOT for this guy,,,, tandem all the way,,,

Single axle trailer roll easier and are less expensive. Tandem axle trailers are more stable fore and aft. As for load rating tires are the weak link. If you pop a tire on a tandem sometimes you can still limp it to the tire shop on three.

thanks for the input guys the weight wont be an issue as we will only be hauling the RZR and the R or the 440ex either combo would be less than 2000#. we dont camp and all our spare parts and tools stay on the RZR and we carry our luggage under the bed cover. KASEY what did you mean you cant put quads sideways in a 7ft wide trailer? the 1 guy i ride with always carries 3 in his 7x12 and dosent have any issues.
