Well, this showed up via fed-ex a couple weeks ago.  Some of you will probably recognize it.  The plan is to swap all the parts off of my 87 onto this frame/chassis.  I dont want a show quad.  I want to be able to ride and enjoy this thing without being worried about scratching it!  I did say to another member that I dont want it too fancy....but he made a good point...a Laeger narrow xc cr500 rear link with a +4 pro-trax is pretty fancy already!!

Yup.  Got this from Troy.  Was his project Elsinore.  Wont have all the bling bling but has to be fully functional and ready to rip!
I will say, it took quite a while to get the saran wrap off of all the parts!!! But it could have not been packaged any better!  Rear shock is pretty close to my weight so I will try it.  In need of front shocks..That is the hold up right now. Funds are a little low after this purchase.  Looks like new shocks will be around $1100 for something to match up to the rear shock.  I dont race, just rec ride so I dont need anything super fancy as far as shocks but it should probably match up good to the rear shock.  Also bought some stock 86 footpegs to take apart and put on here for now until I find some better ones. Probably have to wait until PDXTRX has his done..  Here is the donor quad that has most parts on it that I need.  Going to use the silver lakers plastics.  Has a LSR rear axle and carrier.  All other parts SHOULD?? work.  Unsure of the motor that I am going to run.  I have a 310 in my trail quad and that is probably going to stay there.  Have a 330 cylinder ported by Neil for midrange and a bored out bottom end that I could use.  Or I have a 86 cylinder on its way back from RB racing in Lansing. He did his best porting job on it. I am going to bolt it on and tune it in in the gray stock frame quad first and see how it runs and then make my decision.  If anyone has better suggestions on posting pictures let me know.  I am anxiously awaiting the mobile app for this project but figured I would at least get it started.

Now thats how parts should be packaged! Very nice setup there, whichever top end you choose it will be a fun ride! You will really like that rear shock if its close to your weight and how you ride. May want to call Seth at SF while your looking for fronts,he usually has some zps and pb1's for sale and he can set them up to match that rear since he built it. This will be a great build for not being "fancy"..hahahaha

Yes. Seth is on my list.  His PEP ZPS are about $200 more than the HLS that Laz can build at GT thunder.  I have previous experience with Laz and have been very happy.  But I agree that it would probably be better if the person that did the rear shock also does the fronts.

Just a word of advice... may as well pretty her up and make her look fancy now.  You eventually will want to even though it is just a rider.  Its still a sweet 250R and a reflection of you.  And nothing more badass than riding with a bunch of buddies and having the best of the best that looks the best

And scratches happen.  That's why we use powder coat, because its more durable and wear resistant, so she stays nicer looking longer, even when ridden

I thought of this also.  I had a banshee years ago that I did all the bling to.  I was scared to ride it because I didnt want to scratch it.  And then polishing all the chrome was a pain.  So I am kind of torn here as well.  I want to have fun on it and not worry too much about scratches and nics in the powdercoat.

If you scratch it, oh well. You will just have to repolish it later. Its alot easier to touch it up the second time. I have been doing this for years. Every three years when the cylinder needs to be bored the cylinder gets repolished as well as the motor parts. Wheels are every year. Mufflers every year. Shrouds when they have too many water spots.

That is a good point I think I will put it together and ride it with the parts that I have here but if I have to buy anything for it  it is going to be the best that I can get

Tuned in on this build for sure. I also have a Laeger going and I find myself staring more than working on it usually.

Great grab supernutt, I would love me a laeger in my trailer of my own and my collection would be done. But like you've already been told get with Seth at sfracing and see if he has some used fronts for a good price and have them set up like the rear one.

Talked with Seth today and he doesnt have any used front shocks for this at this time.  Probably going to be next month before I order new ones. Unless I can find a good deal on some used ones but I am not holding my breath....Working on getting the RB racing ported engine tuned in.  Tried it with a sparks mx pipe and it did not run good at all...put my old beater FMF on and it ran MUCH better.  I think with my TRX5 it will run pretty darn good.  Going riding this weekend so cant take it off until next week to try it out.

Can't wait to see this come together, at least you'll have some ride time on her!!!  LOL!  Super nice frame Nathan!

Regarding packaging, I was always good at the egg drop competitions in grade school, where you dropped an egg off the roof in a coffee can and see who's doesn't crack.  LOL!

You should have plenty of packing material!!  LOL!
