Replace VForce reeds or switch to RAD valve?
« on: March 25, 2016, 02:37:58 PM »
I need new reeds for my VForce3 cage, but I was curious about the RAD valve. I'll be riding/racing XC

Anybody currently using one? Your thoughts?

It's there a advantage to running the RAD? ESR and the V-Force have been good to me.

I know in my puma with a cr500 cage a vforce has a lot more area compared to a rad valve as well as more dampening for the carb.

My buddy and I have both had bad experience with v force. We had the v force 2s but they failed on both of our motors pretty quickly. I always read good things about he boyeseen setup so that's what I switched to and they are pretty nice! Very responsive and they still look brand new after 2 years

I went from stock to a rad valve.  The bottom end really opened up.  It almost felt like I did a gearing change, that's how responsive it was.  I run mostly desert or woods. Never ran v-force tho...

Thought I read that rad was better for low end power and v-force was better for mid to high. I'm interested in finding out if it's true because I'm in the market for a new set up.

We have a flow bench where I work and when I did my 1st R build back in 2001 V-force flowed 20% more air.  ESR cage is pretty much same as V force they copied a good product.  V force have more surface flowing area and don't have to open as far which equals less flex which equals less prone to breaking.  I still have the same reeds in my motor to this day and haven't had any problems and it's 15 years old!  I have them in the stroked saber 566 also and they work great.  I also have them in my snowmobile and they work great!  Rad valve is nice but flow bench made my mind up for me.
