The cylinder bolts on, but with a power valve the coil need to be moved for clearance. We also moved the brake reservoir.
Great photo's

looks like the stud pattern matches up but is there some kind of adaptor plate needed or is the jug just a direct bolt on ?  also the cr250 has water go through the cases. do you machine out water holes in the bottom of the jug ? the water routing was the main reason i thought the cp cylinder wouldnt work on the newer cr250 cases but i never really investigated it much

What did you do with the PV cylinder?

I've still got it. Going to unload it

The CPI/PRO-X cylinders already have the holes in the bottom/front for water, you can see them at 4:35 of the video. I would imagine you would have to block off the water inlet at the rear of the cylinder that is used on a TRX setup.

We used the water fitting on the back of the cylinder like a trx, although we routed the hose differently. We made a plate with an air bleed where water outlet line would go to the head. No spacer plate was needed as we used the stock 125.3 mm rod. We peaked this engine at a very low rpm (7250 rpm). That is very good power for that rpm and with the restrictive stock air box. Our next project is a 08 YZ 250. We are building for motocross and we will turn it more rpm, probably peak it at 7800 - 8000 rpm.

Arlan did you help develop this cylinder for the application or did CP have this in the works already. I ask because the cylinder base stud bolt  pattern on the CR in 97-01 motors is not the same as a TRX and it appears in the video that the cylinder base gasket area marches the CR which is also different than the TRX.  Looks cool

ok i understand. you blocked off the water outlet of the head with a plate. water still goes through the case and theres 2 holes already machined in the bottom of the jug. then your using the outlet on the back of the jug. makes sense now. i never knew there was the holes already in the bottom cylinder for water. good info :encouragement:.  ill bet theres a ton of cr250 guys that arent aware of this that would probly be real interested.

so the spynx and puma can both be used on the cr250 cases ?

Got my motor together for the most part. It's been in the teens for the last couple months but finally some better weather this week.
