Why is a cr500 link swinger shock mount off set?

I think it's to clear the intake.

Stock frame CR500 link YES! I am. I'm not ready to start this though. I still need a rear shock, one phone call to Walsh and time to work on it. if life would stop throwing me curve balls I can concentrate more on this

The main reason I'm going cr500 linkage is to make clearance for my intake on my future hybrid.

I was just thinking last night what can't you leave the linkage mount dead center on the swing arm just like the stock 250r swinger? For hybrids I understand. But for a stock engined 250r why can't the cr500 linkage be centered on the swinger?

The CR500 shock is larger in diameter i believe that then 250R shock. So they off set it for clearance. In my laeger narrow, with the offset CR500, my OEM intake boot still barley fits.

OK that makes sense. Kinda, I guess. So every brand, pep, axis, ect, if doing a cr500 shock and will build a larger diameter shock? I'm sure brand to brand will differ in diameter some. I didn't think just because it is a cr500 link the diameter of the shock has to be larger the a typical shocks diameter.

Im not sure honestly. Its got nothing to do with the link itself i assume. I have never measured it, it just seems larger when i hold it. Also i dont see any other reason why they would only move that linkage over.

I was just wondering if there was any other reason besides the intake track. I'm doing it for the intake clearance. The better handling and longer travel is a bonus for me. Thanks for your input.

Have you thought about running a no link? You could still move the shock over, have more clearance for the intake due to shock angle and more ground clearance.
