For years the wind has been blowing sand around San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara County.  I live 5min from Pismo/Oceano Dunes and can not believe the complaints people have about the sand in this area. Idiots.

Nothing but idiots that live there
It's sand it gets everywhere
Common sense when the wind blows it moves dirt ,sand debris ...etc

That town would suffer and go broke if the dunes close

Why does Japan get all of the tsunami's???.... It would only take one really good one and we wouldn't have to hear about the poor bastard people breathing $hitty air. (unless they have gills anyway). After the water's recede we'd have a whole crap load of fresh sand and even some free fire wood.  :applause:

Oh wait.... Obama would declare it a national disaster and give them all millions to build even bigger houses...... F@$%...... new plan... LOL

Hmmm, I've got it !!!!............. Let's show the rangers what REAL mortars are !!!  Four-Deuce baby!!! Here lady, take a deep breath of 107mm. :fighting0019:

Its sad to see any closings, once closed they will never be open again,
closings happen for many reasons, not just EPA...the threat of lawsuits, the risk of fires, people not respecting the resources by littering or riding outside of boundaries, reckless driving without safety gear(possible lawsuits), threating local wildlife breading ....the list goes on and on

but what is even more sad, is all off-road users REFUSE to unite. we cant even unite our 250r community..then we hate 2 strokes banshees, then we both hate four strokes, not to mention bikes hate all of us, and the trophy trucks are nothing but completely annoyed by anyone else..
unless things like these drastically change and we learn to tolerate our differences, the future of off-roading is not looking good, without numbers we are nothing

Well said...At the few races they have had on this area some of the racers botched about stupid MIT picky things instead of just being happy to have a place to race...I couldn't believe it....

What I don't understand is how CA expects all of us to keep paying registration for our off road toys when they keep closing more and more areas. When you look into where the funds actually go it is ridiculous. I live about 20 minutes from Kings Canyon National Monument, that has turned into a yuppy site seeing area but the sad thing is the wilderness surrounding the monument is now so heavily regulated you really can't even shoot guns. The few OHV trails that are there are horribly boring. The park rangers will impound your vehicle for riding on dirt fire roads without street registration. I had to ask a ranger where I could shoot and out of the 100's of thousands of miles of wilderness there are two areas to target shoot. Times are changing.

I can't for the life of me figure out why any rational, gun-owning, and freedom-loving person would still live in that state.  Don't you guys like your money, guns, and freedom?  I think it's hilarious ( not this particular situation) when people live in CA and complain about the government - MOVE, cause it is not going to change.  AZ is real nice this time of year lol.  Our property is cheaper and our state gov't doesn't try to big brother us that much.  CA is a great place to visit and I love Disneyland as much as the next guy, but you would never catch me living there.  Just my 2 cents.

I personally would love to move.....But 7 years ago my dad passed away from Prostate cancer.....My parents are old school stand-up Christian people and my Dad was one that did everything for my mom......It was really hard for him to let go knowing that he was leaving my mom behind after caring for her for over 58 years......I promised my dad that no matter what I would take care of my mom and not leave her to fend for herself....This eased my dads mind and I will never break that promise to him.....It is very hard though to keep that promise.....Picture this ...Living in a town that had a population of 7000 people....A town where everyone would call you by your first name.....A town where everyone actually cared for you.....To a town who with counting the outlying areas has a population of 80 thousand plus.....A town where you used to be able to ride pretty much anywhere to a town which after three times of being caught, sells your bike/quad and puts you in jail for 6 months.....A town that is run by corporate wineries and Big money rules......Move????...Yes I would love to but my Mom doesn't want to. That is because all  the people she knows live here....She is familiar with the area and to move would mean at over 80 years old she would have to move to someplace foreign to her.....And at this time her wishes come before mine......So you see there are some legitimate reasons why people do not move from this state....I would love to move to a state where people love to ride like I do....But family comes first in my Book...So I continue to do what little I can....That is part of what FerrinMotorsports is all about.....I have been buying parts and building 250r Quads and selling them to local people to build the interest in ATV riding......I have worked with several kids...(I call them kids but they are in their early 20's) Helping them to set up their quads for what they want to do.....But I am starting Spring of next year moving on from this....I have some things on my bucket list that I want to do as I am not getting any younger....LOL

The fact that your sticking around to take care of your mom is a very selfless & commendable thing. Good for you...... It's sad that the gov is trying to shut down pismo. I've never been there but once they get a popular area like that shut down it's easier for those bastards to do the same to other popular areas. Florence dunes here in Oregon has been drastically reduced in size due to (& I mean no disrespect by this) californians with piles of money moving into houses next to the dunes & than complaining about the noise. Like it has been mentioned earlier, if they don't like it than they should take their money & buy a house somewhere by a forest full of tree's they can hug.

Gotta love CA and the sense of "entitlement" most people have. If my job and family weren't anchoring me down here, I'd be out of this awful state. I remember my first trip to Pismo dunes. Everyone camped in tents. It wasn't over run with trailers and trash. The sand was actually smooth and not chopped up from the over sized tire tread marks. Ahhh the good ol' days, where there weren't too many fenced off areas and you could ride all day without crossing the same dune more than once. And to think of this place closing...saddens me. A place I pictured teaching my daughter how to ride an ATV and enjoy the outdoors. I pray this special place remains open and that our off-road community can continue to do what we love best!

Ferrin, I was not meaning to evoke that response from you.  I know there are reasons for people to still live in CA and I respect that you honor your mother's wishes.  In my family, what the mom wants the mom usually gets (that includes the mother of my children) so I feel ya.  Everyone has to have a family and everyone has to have a job, I get that.  I just feel sorry for you guys that have to have either of those in that state.  I am just spoiled because I grew up the personal freedom capital of the US and I will probably never move out of this state.  Every time I visit CA, I am reminded of how much the gov't controls your life even when it comes to the simplest things like driving a car.  There are probable a 100x the amount of street signs on a typical socal street compared to phx and its all because the gov't has to mandate every little thing like you don't know how to drive your own damn car.  If I were to pick a job again I would have stayed out of healthcare and got into the streetsign business in CA because it's booming.  Just a little rant on how much I dislike CA in general and gov't do-gooder in particular.

I feel the government squeeze everyday Here in California....Most of it is due to somebody complaining....A new law that was just implemented is that every vehicle on the Road has to give at least three feet of clearance to bicycles.....Some rodes have no bike lanes and are narrow.....So the vehicle is to stay behind the bicyclist until the vehicle can safely pass.....In some extreme cases this could take miles before it is safe to pass........I am so tired of mentally retarded laws.......

Well it's a good thing they don't let you own a gun or you might shoot that bicyclist around mile one lol.  In my opinion CA embodies all that is wrong with America: the largest state budget but for some reason you guys are always running deficits, a state full of people who do nothing but for some reason expect everything, and a political environment that feeds on the system all in the name of getting some demographic slice to think you care about them.  Thats the thing, liberals throw more of your money at problems that can't be solved with money just so that they can say they care.  They don't give a crap if it actually improves people's lives, just as long as they get to go on tv to boast about this program or that program.  That's all I have to say,  Im done and Im sorry if I wasted your time if you actually read this whole post:fighting0010:

It looks like there are probably a lot of us here for family reasons. My family has gone through some serious changes over the last 8 years and I am pretty much anchorless on my side but my wife's sister just had a baby so I can go to Texas like I want to..... or stay married..... I don't feel like going through another divorce in the family so I get to live here and complain. I just can't wait for the new gas tax....yaaaa!!!!
