What other year stator can you make work with 01 cdi. Is it just 00&01. What about a 125 stator looks the same

what if I used the plug off a 125 stator on my 99 stator. I  can find 125 stators for a reasonable price.

I've got it figured out. Going to use my 99 stator and redo the big plug off of it to match the 01 plug.

Was also thinking since I'm able to go this route. To be able to run a lighting coil. Would it be possible to run a newer cdi off the trx stator.

If anyone is interested to know. You can make a 99 stator work with a 00-01 cdi.

Can you explain what you have working ? Did you start out with a complete 99 ignition cdi, stator & flywheel ? Were you running the 99 ignition on your motor & just wanted the 01 cdi ?

ya I started with a complete 99 ignition setup running on my bike. I wanted the 01 cdi. On the 99 cdi it has two plugs a big and small. The big one is the same as the 01 plug. All the wires coming off the 99 stator are the same as the 01. The Only difference is the 99 has one extra ground going to the cdi. So you have to combine the two green wires going to the cdi and rearrange all the other wires to match the 01 plug setup. Hope this helps and sorry for the long post.

I know the 8 pin plug is the same. The 02-07 has the same 8 pin plug. Your 99 flywheel is not the same as 00-01. The ignition trigger is in a different location. Do you know how many degrees it was off & how did you adjust it?

I have not adjusted it. was not aware the flywheel was different.I have not rode it. Just fired it up. What should I be looking for. I thought the flywheels were the same.

You need a timing light. I placed the 00-01 CR250 ignition service manual in the technical section. Download it and in there it explains how to check your timing.

Most cr flywheels are different. The 97-98 same,99 one year only,00-01 same. How long did you use the complete 99 set up & what motor do you have? Was there something you did not like about it? Were you able to use the ESR adapter plate on the 99 stator?

yes esr adapter on 98. I found were I got the info on the flywheels. It is on cr500 riders. A guy on there Roosty. He as stated that the 97-01 flywheels are the same. He is a very respected person over there. don't think he would steer people the wrong way. Oh and decided to change because got a smoking deal on the 01 cdi. Everybody seem to think of it as the best year to run.
