Fresh build need help please
« on: September 21, 2015, 09:47:18 PM »
Hey Guys,

Just got the new R fresh rebuild completely, been through heat cycles 1/4 throttle cycles, and now doing 1/2 throttle cycles, did compression test with cheap harbor freight tester fresh out of box and only got 90 psi wot and at least ten kicks, starts perfect everytime first kick, feels better and tighter than my last R that was only 152 psi and that kicker went down super easy on that on. The thing runs beautiful and idles perfect, are these testers accurate for cheapies? Or do you think the rings are not seated, just hoping the job was done right. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried a little thread tape on the tester to make sure it's sealed? Can't comment on if it would run @90 psi, but I've gotten false readings conducting compression tests because I didn't have a good enough seal.

No have not tried that but I am going to return this one and use the renta tool one I used on my old R that got 152 psi and i know for a fact that one kicked over easier than this one, it just feels like the compression is good with how hard the kick is and it doesnt sound like theres slop when its running, maybe im wrong I am new to these. And definately not a mechanic just a rider lol

Thats what im hoping did a search on google and seen that several other people had the same problem with the same harbor freight tester and got the same 90 psi , they used a different one and blam different results. Im just nervous of this break in period never did one and dont want to mess it up, especiall taking over where someone else started.

I would also think it is a junk tester.

You have given your rebuild more time then any I have ever done.
