Have you adjusted your 250r suspension since they where rebuilt? They are just set up in a neutral setting when shipped. They need fine tuned.

They are just at a neautral setting at the moment. The bike feels so much better than it did. I think my main issue is in the seat, stabilizer and bars. Rode both bikes today back to back and Ive narrowed it down that the bars, seat, and precision stabilizer on the 450 are what making it feel smoother than it actually is haha. The 250 just has a plain ol pep stick stablilzer on it now.

My buddy who rides and races a 450 commented on how precise the handling of my R was. I did put a stabilizer, +2+1 stem, Fourwerx seat foam, Rath nerfs, and a few other add-ons that improved the ergonomics for me.

The 450 does feel much more comfortable for me out of the box though, especially for a tall guy.

Get a CCP. I still wonder how I rode without one for so long. There are many bends out there for handlebars but I've always preferred the cr high bend if you wanted to give them a try.

Thats what im gonna try. I have cr high on the 450 and really like them. Ive been lookin at those ccp stabilzers for sometime and just never pulled the trigger on one. Know the seat has got to go lol. I know ceet, hi flite, and fourwerx all make foam but whose is the softest?? I want this thing to be a sofa lol.

X2. Adding the stabilizer to my bike made a world of difference.

Yup. I'm running the CCP and it made a huge difference in the feel. Especially at pismo where it gets all rutted out.

I like the ergo of my 450 more than the 250. Both bikes handle great tho, although I'd like to lower the foot pegs and add a taller seat on the R.

I feel completely opposite. Seat needs lowered on the 450. It has a plus 2 stem just like my 250 but seems to low still. Got a full set of elka with the linkage For the 450 on that deal earlier thus year so going to take it out and try it Nov 14-15. Maybe those will help with it feeling so rigid. had stock rear and mx built Elka long travel up front.

Been riding the R more lately and its feeling better, guess I just got used to the 450. The seat still sucks and my clutch feels much harder than the 450 too. It sure is a hell of alot more fun though haha.

I get asked all of the time at the races, Why the 250r when you can go faster on a 450? My response is always, I know it might not be the fastest thing but I'll guarantee I have the biggest smile on my face out of anyone else on the track.

I got to say my 250 now has an OEM cylinder with mild port work. Unless there is a guy out there with a lot of skill my little 250 turns same or faster lap times just because it handles so much better. Cant wait to finish my crf450/250r lsr hybrid.  Best of both worlds

Well since I have been fortunate enough to have had the pleasure of riding a 250R and a 450R with a 250R engine in it I can tell ya....NOTHING compares to the 250R!!!!! You sit down low on the 250R, lower center of gravity, better handling....The 450r was designed for a taller motor and they made the seat height taller too!!! If they kept the same geometry as the PROVEN 250R they would have a perfect ride!! The 450R is better suited for taller riders with long legs....I'm 6foot so I can appreciate the ergonomics....but it just doesn't handle as nice as the 250R. Maybe you could yank the 4-poke outta the 450R and drop in a 250R ??? :)
