Author Topic: Notice on how I (mrtwidster1) do business concerning PAYPAL (Read 5975 times)

Just a heads up. I want it to be known that when I (mrtwidster1) make a purchase using paypal that I will not GIFT the payment for Goods or Services. If a seller does not specify that the goods and services are to be payed as "Gifted" prior to the transaction then I assume that it is a normal Paypal transaction for the Goods or services. If the seller requests that the payment be gifted for goods or services then I will either decline goods or services or I will pay the 3% percent paypal fee but again I choose not to do the GIFTED option for goods and services.
Just trying to clarify how I choose to do business in regards to paypal transactions.

A box packaged to your neighbor is taped up no differently then a box coming to me. And if I'm paying for the shipping what difference does it make where its going.

I understand why sellers request gift payments. Taxes. It is a harsh reality. However I only send as goods also. No gifting here either. I am protected, sellers have my address readily available, and I am paying for the PayPal services we are using during the transaction. I see both sides.

I do not think that it is about taxes or it is not with my business, it is about the cost of using Plastic. It ends up costing me almost 3% to 4% when someone uses PayPal when paying for one of my products or services. Any merchant that takes PayPal or any credit cards gets hit where it hurts when someone throws plastic at them when it comes pay day.

Let us put the shoe on the other foot for a minute. You work hard and do quality work (selling your services to a company) and pay day arrives. The boss ask if his company can pay you using the company PayPal account and deposit your wages into your PayPal account because it was more convenient for him to do it that way and he wants to accumulate bonus points on his charge card. You say OK. The company owes you $1000.00 for your wages and when you go to your paypal account you see that you only received $965.00 for $1000.00 worth of work. You say Wow PayPal charged me $35.00 for doing the transaction and then gave my boss/company I work for $10.00 to $15.00 of my wages in cash back rewards.

Do you want to take a 3 to 4 % cut in pay by continuing doing this the next time pay day comes and continue to pay PayPal for doing the transaction as well as paying for your Boss's cash back rewards?

This is how merchants feel every time someone wants to pay using plastic. What ever happened to checks and cash?

I don't do gifts unless I've bought from them before, I pay the extra 3% to make sure I can make a claim if they end up screwing me.

i usually add in enough to cover fees when accepting paypal,, i also only send as a gift when i know the seller.. i think the fees are worth the recourse if you need their services,,, and i have used them in the past,,, stupid low feedback impulse buyers on ebay ....

The problem is with the greed of the credit card companies. If there is a complaint, 90% of the time the credit card company says the buyer is right and the merchant (seller) is wrong because they want the buyer to keep using their credit card.

agreed!!!! but so far o am 100% on getting my money or a return,,, only used it 3 times ... for me worth it,,,, I also have a paypal debit card, there are certain costs . I guess that is the cost of using and accepting cards,, hell most people have no money just credit........ LOL

If they " have no money just credit" they should not be spending it on toys for themselves. If they have to use the credit card because they have no money I hope it is for one of life's necessities for their family not big boy toys.

lol that's whats wrong in this day and age!!!!! so many people are like that......
