Why and what will it improve? I see a lot of TRX250Rs are running the CR 250 ignition.
do I need one if Im building a MX TRX?

reliability and improved performance. the improved throttle response and easy starting.

You will lose your headlight with a cr ignition. Your current jetting will go up 2 on the main jet and 1 on the pilot , but if your gonna go with a 310 from esr ask Eddie where to start with jetting for what you are building. The cr ignition is a great improvement .

Revs way faster, eliminates kick back. Fly wheel is half the size.

This is why we use it on the big bores. If you are running a 250 you don't need it like we do!!!

Stator, flywheel, cdi and adaptor

You have to get the adapter plate from esr. Besides that the one I just installed was bolt on.

thanks guys! i have a 86trx with a 85atc 250r motor in it. I am planning on getting the ESR plate, stator,flywheel, and cdi. should i get all the parts from the 2001 model cr250? is ebay my best bet for finding all components?

The 01 is discontinued. Most do the 02-08 now. You might find one on eBay but probably be costly.

I found some used 01 ignitions on ebay about $600. will the 02-08 bolt up to the 85 motor?

Curious if anyone has dyno charts of stock vs cr ignition. I am not 100% sold. I need to replace some aging components on a build and it would be nice to have some more info to look at.
