Just bought a brand new ESR 5b for my 363 build and I'm not to pleased with the way the welds look! I was hoping some of you with any of the ESR B pipes could post pics to see if that's just how it's supposed to be or if mine just got rushed and slapped together.. It was in processing for 3 weeks after I paid for it and I tried calling prob 15-25 times over that time period before I finnaly got him to answer and he said he had been waiting on parts, then he shipped it that day. My other 2 standard ESR pipes are MUCH cleaner looking and to be honest I'm a little disappointed after spending $550

Looks like the stinger is flared and slid over the pipe vs butt-welded. Maybe trying to improve flow there.

Yea the stinger does flare to slip over the other pipe. Mine isn't quite as bad but the welds could be a little cleaner. You won't notice it on the bike, I didnt notice it until I read this and went looked at it.

So what exactly is the difference in the standard and the big bore? I thought the silencer and the stinger part of the main pipe were supposed to be bigger? Standard is 1 1/8 and the big bore is 1 1/4

My new 5b measures exactly the same as my 5 standard and my buddies 9 standard.. 1 1/8

the way I understand it the TRX5 is only available now in "TRX5B" version. the stinger is 1 1/8 but he header section is larger thus the big bore designation.

The b have the same size stinger and silencer but were changed up front in some way to lower ex temps for bb. That swedge end slide over stinger has been that way for quite a while now. It is not a smooth weld joint outside to look at like a butt weld but it will get zero possible weld inside. It is a good thing that may be a standard thing that you see more of some day but it requires more time and effort so probably not.

Ok well I guess this makes me feel a little better to know that's just how it is. I could have sworn I've read several times that the B stinger and silencer were bigger but I guess that's not the case... Hopfully it's worth spending the money to switch from my standRd pipe to this for my new build!

The only dimensional difference I have detected between the "B" and the standard pipe is in the head pipe. The "B" pipe has an ID that is 3 mm to 4 mm larger where the head pipe is welded to the flange that plugs on to the cylinder and is the same size as the standard pipe at the point where the head pipe plugs into the main pipe body.
