Only time will tell....it's in the ENGINEERING stages....so hopefully they will release some info soon on which way they're going.....I'm sure they've done their homework.....Look at how well they're CR500 products turned out! :)

it cant be this easy.....can it? lol

TRX450 bottom end, cr500 crank, and cr500 top end. I bet it is the same concept but with billet cases.

I assume the intake setup would work correctly without having to make frame modifications around the shock mount like is required for the 250r in 450r build.

Another question I have is how do they keep this engine cool? No provisions for a fan with the cr500 ignition. That's probably the biggest thing holding the 250r back right now.

They'll never sell enough of these to ever put a serious dent in the amount of 450r OEM parts available

Run a battery for the fan. Use a thermostat switch and with lithium batteries they have now you would be able to run days on one charge

The 450's will be around for a long time. Even from 06 to 15 is a lot longer than the 86 to 89. That is what people will be racing for years to come. Look how many years they raced the R after production.

If you look at their website you will see their electric start option which I might add is pretty sweet if you ask me.  It appeases they use a CR 450x flywheel I didn't notice the stator but if it's the 450x stator they have lighting provision so I assume it could generate power and you would have a battery for starter.  You could power a cooling fan

Those cases are from 2004-2005.....so they're utilizing the parts that are readily available....anyone can get the parts required to build it....just need the Billet cases, Crank & Counterbalancer.....It's a good way of thinking :) Keep costs down.

I was referring to the cr500 cases. if that's what they want to spend their time making, then so be it. its all cool.  hek maybe theres still a market for those parts. now put me in front of that cnc machine and ill be going in complete different direction :D
to much power is almost enough

Oh, OK....yeah they're trying to go in a direction that makes the most sense and can utilize the most available parts.....250R & CR500 parts are scarce.....but 450R parts are everywhere....and cheap!!! Oh if I had access to a CNC or even a 3-D Printer I'd have started this years ago!!! For myself I went the easier route and put the trx250R motor in the 450R and had to modify the frame....next step is to build the frame from scratch that uses both the 250R motor & 450R parts!!! :)

That looks Totally do able - It looks like it would be easier than modifying the 250R cases.....and it will BOLT right into the 450R......But how much different are the mounting points from the 250R ?? :D
Why do those cases look just like 250R cases? I don't own a 450R but I though the 450R was a 4 stroke

The ones that The_Steve_Man posted are 250R cases with a CR500 Cylinder......Panthera is designing cases that match the 450R cases and have a closed crankcase to allow a 2-stroke top end.....which will be a CR500 Cylinder.....This way the mounting points of the cases are 450R and will bolt in to a 450R chassis. They want to utilize as many 450R components as possible to keep costs down....I think it will be a great venture for them.....SUMMER of 2017 will be here soon enough!!! :)

The pictures I posted are 450 cases that have been welded and machined. It has a cr500 crank.

^^ Which is ingenious. I hope it works out.
