1985 atc250r broken shock reservoir mount
« on: March 04, 2021, 11:33:04 PM »
I have a 1985 atc250r that I just noticed broke the front ear off the rear shock reservoir mount.  The rear ear has a small crack but is still attached.  Has anyone had this problem?  If so how did you fix it?

I did because I saw that he sells those mounts, he told me that he hasn't had those in Stock for at least a year and wasn't sure when he would make more.

Thanks for the help so far everyone.  The stock 1985 atc250r  reservoir mount looks to be spot welded to the frame in 6 locations.  Does anyone have any tips for removing the stock reservoir mount?

It’s been a very long time since I’ve been around an atc250r (20 years) but would these work?

I’d guess an angle grinder or die grinder

Or something like this mount if your shock hose is long enough.  This is on a 350X.

.

I can usually remember lots of R related stuff.  Stuff from many moons ago. Hell I remember every part I have ever owned.  Who I bought from and who I sold to and for how much I purchased and sold for.  But, don’t ask me to remember birthday’s and anniversaries lol.

If not from memory I usually had it written down in a R specific note book.

That 350x mount might work but I would prefer to have the reservoir in the stock location.

To remove the original reservoir mount I'm thinking I can either drill out each spot weld (this would leave visible holes in the frame), I can carefully grind out the bracket from the inside out or I can weld the existing mount back together.
