Rear caliper spacer??
« on: April 06, 2014, 07:02:17 PM »
I'm having issues getting the rear caliper to line up with the rotor. Its about an 1/8 inch off. Everything is aftermarket. Has anyone else had this issue? What am I missing?
 Thanks Higgy

This is one of those..
:thread_pics:

Can't say I've had any serious issues with alignment.. hopefully something is just missing or slightly out of whack.

Ok here ya go. See how the caliper is pushed all the way over and it still won't clear the rotor! Not sure what i'm missing?

are you sure the anti fade is in all the way? it looks like a space between the bearing holder and the rotor hub

It's pretty common to run washers. I just had to do it on my wife's. However I agree, it doesn't look like the antifade is all the way on...
I ride PINNED! Therefore, no bdt in this household.

If it is in all the way you might need to take if off and grind a 1/8" off of it.

Ok, I may have to take about 1/8 off of the anti-fade. How do you feel about using washers to shim it out?

you might get the anti fade to move some after a small ride, try the washers to see if it will move after a little bouncing around, if it is indeed in all the way, I think I would do as Tony said and shorten it up a bit.. but its your quad, washers would bother me as a permanent fix in this situation

So I measured the end of the anti-fade and its almost .600? I'm just wondering if thats a standard length? Before I modify it. Also I wonder if my bearings are pressed in all the way?? Has anyone else had to grind off material? It seems a bit drastic.

I had to take that much off when mix and matching a 400 EX axle.

Ok thanks, so I may have a 400ex axle. The axle I got came with a frame that I bought. The guy just threw it in.

I was able to just take the threaded piece and take it down with a surface grinder

Yeah grind it down. Washers are not a good way to fix anything ever. It looks extremely trashy.
